Sufjan
So while we were driving to Moab, we were listening to Josh's MP3 player (Sienfeld's candy bit which was brilliant) and "Hurt" by Johnny Cash came on. Randy said, "Didn't we talk about you not listening to this song till you're older?" (I've already told this story, but it applies, and I'm not sure why I found it sooo hilarious) (also, I watched the video for Hurt the other day and it was awful. At one point the man in black is acting out the words very dramatically with his hands as his wife(?) looks mournfully on. You really needed to push the melancholy, kids, really?) So, Sufjan Stevens has a song called "John Wayne Gacy" on Illinoise that I love. It is beautifully melodic and at one point I had it on repeat for like three hours. The problem is that it's about John Wayne Gacy and so uber creepy. Like I was breaking down during finals week and had it on and had to turn it off and go on a walk to escape the darkling purple tentacles of it. Anyway, I love the song, but I guess what I have to say about it is that maybe I need to wait till I'm older?
